How to get here

The island of Elba is the third largest island in Italy. It is part of the Tuscan Arcipelago and legend has it that Venus dropped her necklace into the Tirrenian Sea and Elba was the diadem whilst the other pearls are Gorgona, Capraia, Pianosa, Montecristo, Giglio and Giannutri. The island of Elba has an area of 223.5 sq. metres and its coastline is 147 kilometres long. Its twisting roads give the visitor the unexpected opportunity of seeing a new view on every corner and every journey from one point of the island to another is a new adventure. The map below points out the shortest route from Portoferraio to Anselmi Bed & Breakfast, whilst the other explains how to get to the island of Elba.

How to get the island of Elba:

  • By car, motorbike or train: the nearest port of embarcation is Piombino and the port of arrival is Portoferraio. Two navigation lines, TOREMAR  and MOBY LINES carry vehicles and passengers and the crossing takes an hour. (You would be strongly advised to book the ferry crossing well ahead, particularly in high season.)

  • By plane: during the summer season, the International Airport of the island of Elba (La Pila, Campo nell'Elba) has connections with Milano Linate, Bergamo, Parma, Zurich, Munich, Berne, Vienna and Innsbruck.
